Me and Gee met in a mobile game called Whiteout Survival. Neither of us were looking for love at the time, but we instantly hit it off in the in-game chat. What started as a simple conversation quickly became something much more.
Before long, we moved over to Discord, where we spent hours talking every single day. Back then, we even used to leave little messages for each other in our in-game cities — our own small way of staying close. From there, our story kept growing. We moved to WhatsApp and Facebook, got to know each other’s families, and built something real despite the distance between us.
On the 16th, we celebrated our 20 month anniversary.
I had hoped to get over to see her much sooner, but life had other plans. I needed a knee replacement, and recovery pushed everything back. I had the surgery on 17th February and spent 8 days in hospital.
Through all of it, Gee was there for me every day. She even took time off work to stay on the phone with me for hours, and spoke Tagalog to the Filipino doctors and nurses when they came into my room to make sure I was being looked after properly. That’s the kind of person she is.
She has been incredibly patient while I recover, and after 20 months of loving someone from a distance, I wanted to build something meaningful that helps bring us one step closer to finally being together in person.
